Current status of septic management in the Beach / Route 1 area

According to the Maine DEP publication#DEPLW57, a well maintained subsurface wastewater system works efficiently for 15-25 years.
Within the LSD, 54* out of 66, or 82%, of properties are likely in need of a new system.

Septic plan approval /inspection was not required prior to 1983. Reason for lots with “no files” is unknown. (*) indicated final inspection, if performed, was not signed.
